Building Demolition Must Adapt To Each Building Situation

Building Demolition Services from DMD ServicesNo two buildings are constructed the same, and so building demolition methods must adapt to the situation. Whether it is design, construction material, condition, size, etc., there are always nuances that make buildings unique. However, D.M.D. Services has the knowledge, equipment and professionalism to tear down anything that comes across its plate.

D.M.D. Services owns and operates over 40 pieces of demolition equipment and is the first company in the Chicago area to use an ultra-high demolition machine, the Caterpillar 330B L Ultra-high, equipped with a Cat MP20 Multi-Processor.

DMD Services Has Successfully Managed Many Difficult Demolition Projects

Due to D.M.D. Services’ level of expertise and focus on continuous improvement, we have been successful with many difficult demolition projects. Here are just a few of the building demolition projects as well as environmental removal and remediation projects we have handled:

  • Chicago Public Schools: An on-going project of D.M.D. Services for the last 3-4 years. Project centers around environmental remediation whereby contaminated soil is replaced in order to comply with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards.

  • City of Chicago & Municipalities: Includes various projects for the City, including the O’Hare expansion, which involves the building demolition of various commercial warehouses and factories. In addition, D.M.D. assists the City by providing 24-hour emergency response, and also works with various municipalities nearby the city.

  • Field Museum Central Plant: Project involving the extraction of underground fuel tanks. Performed in conjunction with Chicago Park District and Walsh Construction.

  • Resurrection Health Care: Building demolition project completed adjacent to the main hospital and accomplished while normal hospital operations, including patient care, were on going. Temporary walls were erected, and a high degree of caution was employed to be as quiet as possible so as to not disturb the patients.

  • Democratic National Convention: Project involved the building demolition of many low quality sites on Madison Street near the United Center in preparation for the convention. Project was completed on very short notice and was accomplished on time.

  • Jewel Tea: Project involved historic preservation of key site contents. This demolition project was somewhat controversial and evoked sentimental feelings for many on-lookers, but D.M.D. took these considerations into account and worked with members of the community to ensure everyone was taken care of and on board with the project.

  • Church Artifact Preservation: Involved preservation of church artifacts. Considered a specialty contract job. Evoked historic and emotional sentiments in the community and everyone involved could appreciate the preservation work efforts being done while the building demolition took place.
